Tales of our tiny family.

Here are a sampling of the photos I took today. Thanks so much for Taneill and Ashley for bringing there adorable kids over. It was a lot of fun for me to use photography. I LOVE it! There kids are both very photographic. Just see for yourselves. I can't wait to see Nicole's baby and photograph him. He's such a cutie Nicole!
To make a little extra money for Jon to go to law school I decided to take photos for our friends and neighbors in University Village. The idea is that I can set up my studio once a month and take photos(which I want to do with Mary anyway). Then mommies can come over as they please and when their babies are happy. I even made a huge sign and hung it up in my front window. Tacky, I know but when your poor you must not let your pride get in the way of making money. I kept nevousely telling Jon, "people are looking at it" And then he would reply, "that's the point. close the blinds if you don't want to see the people looking at it." I did have one friend stop by but her baby was a little fussy so they will come back later. So, mostly I have just taken photos of Mary.

I'm very proud of Mary being able to roll. She first rolled over from back to tummy around Jun 24 but couldn't replicate it. I remember I came upstairs and I could hear muffled crying. She had fallen asleep on the bed and had somehow rolled over. It scared me that she had done it and I was out of the room. Then she parctised and by the time Jory got married on July 2 she could roll over if she put her mind to it. I remember because when we got back from the temple my sister Julie told me that she had rolled over. I knew that she could but it usually took a lot of tries and frustrated crying was involved. Now she rolls all the time and with great ease. Today in church she decided to roll three times in a row under the pew in front of us.....it was difficult to get her back. She still hasn't mastered scooting. Mostly she just digs her head into the carpet. Who needs to crawl when you can just roll everywere. Anyway here is a short movie of Mary rolling. It was taken the same day as her an Spencer. I promise that she does have more outfits than this and I do change her clothes...sometimes.
I showed you the photos before...now you can see the movie. Spencer and Mary are SOOO cute together! This movie was taken on around July 26? Maybe Tawnya knows. I think Mary is little young to be holding hands--Spencer I'm keeping my eye on you. Anyway I think the two of them together is just the cutest thing ever!
Our ward had a swim party. So we grabbed the swim diaper and we were on our way.
Mary had this face the whole time during swimming. It seemed to say, "I'm not sure how safe this is are you SURE you know what your doing?"
There are few times in your life when you can look so chubby in a swimsuit and still pull off the cute look!

There are few times in your life when you can look so chubby in a swimsuit and still pull off the cute look! This is Mary's first friend. His name is Spencer and he is one of the cutest little boys! Jed and Tanya lived in our last ward and I actually knew Jed's parents because they were in our Chinese Branch. What a small world! I have the cutest little video of them together, I have been meaning to upload. With the move I have been super busy. But we are getting settled so I need to step up and get some more things on the blog. I hope you like the snap shots!
"Wo mei yo chian" Was most likely my most commonly used phrase in Chinese. It means I don't have any money. I used it nearly everytime I walked down the street, came out of a reastruant, entered the subway, or got off of the train. And let's face it I usually did have money, I just didn't have enought money to give to all of the beggers in China. Although if I did have food I tried to give it to them. One time I remember the children beggers were very persistant at one train stop. They kept touching me, fallowing me, and begging for money. I told them that I didn't have any money. I think Jon explained to them that he thought it was wrong to use children to beg. My chinese was very poor--so my responses are usually more rude but convey the point. I offered the child some of my cookies. She said "bo yow" (sorry for my bad pinin) meaning I don't want that. Finnally she realized she wasn't going to get any money from us she grabbed my cookies and ran away. Since I have returned home I have enjoyed walking down the street, coming out of restruants, and everything else with out having people try to scam me out of money. But I fear moving to Salt Lake will change this for me. Infact it already has. Last weekend we went to Wal-Mart in west salt lake and a woman asked me to give her money for her giftcard. I took one look at her, our eyes met, and I thought you have to be kidding me. Her eyes seemed to say you aren't buying this are you. I told her I don't have any money, we only have credit cards. She made a joke about how nobody carried cash anymore. I laughed and Jon and I quickly walked away. Well, at least she didn't steal my cookies in the process of trying to scam me. Jon and I must just look like suckers.
I hardly ever get fancy shampoo. I usually buy the kind they have at dollar tree. But last time I went to Smith's a saw some Pantene on sale for around a dollar. I thought, "Great, I can afford the expensive kind!" I thought the bottle said for women who color breakage defense. I had some wild times in China experimenting on my hair and also often use a striat iron so I figured I could us the breakage defense shampo. Later when I brought it home I realized it actually said, "for women OF color breakage defense. No wonder nobody in Logan bought it!
