Tales of our tiny family.

Beijing Acrobats

My sister, Lori, has a friend whoes child is doing a report on China.  I thought little kids would think that the acrobats were pretty cool.  Since I looked up all these photos I decided to post them on here.  It's fun for me to remember being in China.  We were always so free to go and do whatever we wanted.  A big contrast to this year being parents and having Jon back in school.  I think this trip was taken on a whim...maybe only planned a few days before we went.  We all woke up and decided to see the acrobats.  A taxi ride and a few hours later we had done just that.  Now it's hard to get up, take care of the baby, and make it out to do anything.  Interesting how different phases of life are.  But don't get me wrong I LOVE being a mom!

Family Photos

Hi we took some family photos today.  I would like to get more hits on my photo blog so I'm posting most of them there.  Here is the link http://ravenbergphotography.blogspot.com/ But here is a sample of what they look like.

A few more pictures of us.

Here are a few pictures that we shot at different times in the last few days.

This is us on the way to regional conference at the conference center downtown. Mary is getting better about being able to ride on my shoulders. Mary was so cute that I think we may have even convinced a young couple to have a baby (based on a conversation we overheard).
We shot these pictures with the point-and-shoot at Sunnyside Park, which is a very short walk from our apartment. We waited until sunset so that the light would look a little warmer.

Mary is getting more and more mobile. I think that even today she made a huge step toward learning how to crawl. I'm pretty sure I'm not ready for that. She can't crawl "proper," but her army crawl/scoot has become much much more efficient. The basically throws herself forward 4-6 inches a shot. That doesn't sound very far, but she can get away from you pretty quickly at that rate.

Just as an aside, school is going well for me. I am enjoying things and staying afloat. It's certainly busy, but it's been a good experience. Sometime I'll have to write a long post about the whole experience, but I can't think of anything very interesting right now.

No more bouncy for Mary.

From birth till now I have put Mary in her bouncy chair while I took a shower. It worked out perfectly. I didn't like her too far away from me. And if she started to cry I could peek my head out and she would smile. Well, I can no longer leave her unattended in her bouncy. It started about a week ago. I heard her in the shower grunting for awhile. I then heard her laughing. I peeked from behind the curtain to see that she had grabbed the toilet paper end and pulled the whole roll off. I thought that was only a trick a two year old pulled...nope my five month old thought it was hilarious to be covered in TP. Then this week I was taking a shower and I peeked out and she didn't look at me. I kept saying, "Mary whatcha doing?" And I could tell she wanted to grab something that was on the floor and she refused to look at me. She had even sat up from her reclined position to look more closely at the object. It turned out to be the scrubbing bubbles bottle. It was out of reach but I can tell I will have to be more careful in the future. Then to my horror she lunged herself towards the bottle and almost tipped her whole chair over. She burst out crying and I hurried dripping wet to save her. I did think it was funny so I made her do it again--supervised! So I could get photos of it. Here they are.

Mary is eats solids!

So these are some snapshots of Mary eating solids.  I need to be better about giving them to her more regularly.  She usually eats rice cereal, but loved the yellow squash that Karen grew in her garden. Yummy!

Hey I posted a new entry on my photo blog check it out at http://ravenbergphotography.blogspot.com/

I Cut My Hair

I traded my old Camera for two months for a haircut. Oscar was supper nice to cut it. I trust him so I let him cut it anyway that he wanted. I'm getting use to it. But I am having a fun time with it-hence the faux hawk. It's nice to have a change, but I decided I will have to start wearing more make-up and maybe some jewlery. My sister Julie is coming down later this week so we will have to go shopping. She has really short hair and will help me know how to accessorize it.

Ryan's Blessing

We went to my high school friend, Nicole's baby blessing. Here are some of my favorite pics. More photos to be added later to http://ravenberg.instaproofs.com/ This is what I think of my mom taking so many photos and abandoning me.

This is Christine's little girl. She got hurt right before the party playing on some rocks-hence the band-aid.
So cute to have the two cousins pose together.
So cute to be sad together!
Cute mommy with baby!
What a perfect family!
Look at how well Cooper posed for his photo! It couldn't be a complete family photo without him.
I think babies are so cute in their blessing clothes.
Well, I better go--Mary is making that face agian. I don't want to get on her bad side too much!
