Mary's First Word--Stinky

Ah, sweet little Mary. It's hard to determine when the first word is said, because it can be somewhat hard to decipher, but with two distinct, reasonably clear replications, we feel that we can pronounce with some confidence that Mary's first word was "stinky."

Jon was out when I was changing the diaper, and I described the diaper as stinky. As Grandma Ravenberg is my witness, after I said "stinky" she said "tin-ky." My husband of little faith returned shortly afterward, and was reluctant to believe that Mary's first word could be so complicated, multisyllabic, and well, awesome. He tried to get her to replicate her speech from earlier, and (unlike the U of U experiment on cold fusion) it was successfully replicated. Again, Mary said "tinky."

She's getting around faster and faster, and she talks more and more, using several random vowel-consanant combinations. We're very proud of our "tinky" baby. Go Mary.
